Ilk gösterimi 2022 Locarno Film Festivali’nde gerçekleşen Güvenli Bir Yer, geçtiğimiz Akademi ödüllerinde de Hırvatistan’ı temsil etmişti. Yönetmen Juraj Lerotić, ilk uzun metrajlı filminde ağabeyi ve kendisinin yaşadıklarından esinlenerek son derece kişisel bir hikâye anlatıyor.
Intihara kalkışan ağabeyi Damir’i son anda kurtaran Bruno çaresizdir. Annesiyle beraber ağabeyini ‘güvenli bir yere’ götürmeye karar verir. Damir’in yalnız kalmayacağı, gözlerinin önünde olacağı bir yer. Zagreb’den uzaklaşarak, annelerinin hâlâ yaşadığı ve çocukluklarının geçtiği sahil kıyısındaki Split’e doğru yola çıkarlar. Bu sadece nostaljik bir yolculuk değil, aynı zamanda Damir’e pek yardımcı olamayan sağlık sisteminin bürokrasisinden de bir kaçıştır. Fakat yaşamaktan bu kadar kesin şekilde vazgeçmiş birisini durdurmak, hayata döndürmek mümkün müdür? Bu üç karakterin 24 saat boyunca yaşadıklarını konu alan Güvenli Bir Yer, son derece etkileyici bir dram. Lerotić yazdığı ve yönettiği filminde başrolü de üstleniyor, bir anlamda kendisini canlandırıyor.
Since its premiere at the 2022 Locarno Film Festival, Safe Place has won sixteen awards, including Best Film in Sarajevo. It was later selected as Croatia's entry at the Academy Awards. In his first feature film, director Juraj Lerotić tells a personal story inspired by his experiences.
Damir has tried to commit suicide, and his brother Bruno feels helpless and distraught after saving him. Bruno agrees to take his brother to a 'safe place' with his mother. A place where Damir will not be alone, where they can keep an eye on him. They set off from Zagreb for the seaside resort of Split, where they spent their childhood. This is more than a nostalgic trip; it's also an escape from the bureaucracy of the healthcare system, which has failed to help Damir. But is it possible to change someone and give them the strength to continue? Safe Place is an awe-inspiring drama about the experiences of a mother and her two sons over the course of 24 hours. Lerotić wrote, directed and played the leading role in this film.
