John Casavettes, planlanmamış ya da planlanmamış gibi duran sinema anlarının büyük şairi; kişileri film mekânını ele geçirmeye çalışırken, kamera onların niyetleriyle hiç ilgilenmeyen, başına buyruk bir göz gibi davranır. Sonuç hem hayata benzer bir karmaşa ve itiş kakış ama nihayetinde bir çeşit garip uzlaşmadır. Karısından ayrılmak isteyen bir New Yorklu adam ile karısı, ikisinin de ayrı ayrı kurduğu yeni ilişkiler, içinde bulundukları arkadaş ortamı ve hayatın yüksek adrenalini bu filmde insan hikâyelerinin ‘yüzler’ halinde irer birer gözümüzden geçmesine yol açıyor. Casavettes’in bu filmini çok seven Cem Madra anısına gösteriyoruz.
John Cassavetes, the great poet of unplanned or seemingly unplanned cinematic moments… The famed director’s camera behaved like a maverick eye, not at all interested in the intentions of the people struggling to make their presence on the film set. The result is both lifelike confusion and scuffle, but ultimately a kind of awkward compromise. A New Yorker who wants to break up with his wife, the new relationships of the couple, their circuit of friends and the adrenaline-spiked life deliver a sequence of human stories in the form of ‘faces’. This film was included in the festival in memory of Cem Madra who loved this Cassavetes production so much.
