Japon yönetmen Kore-Eda Hirokazu 2018’de Arakçılar ile Altın Palmiye’yi kazandıktan sonra Fransa’da Catherine Deneuve ve Juliette Binoche’lu bir kadroyla Saklı Gerçekler’i çekmişti. Şimdi de Bebek Servisi’nde Güney Kore’de geçen bir hikâye anlatıyor. Filmin başrollerinde Parazit’le zihinlere kazınan Song Kang-ho ve IU adıyla tanınan K-Pop yıldızı Lee Ji-Eun yer alıyor. Bebek Servisi Seul’de ebeveynlerin bakamayacağı bebekleri bırakması için kilisenin dışına konan bebek kutularını anlatan bir gazete haberinden yola çıkıyor. Beklenmedik hamilelik sonucunda doğum yapan So-young bebeği kutuya bırakır, fakat ertesi gün pişman olup bebeği geri almaya gitse de bıraktığı yerde bulamaz. Nihayet iki iyi kalpli simsarın bebeğe bakabilecek bir aile bulup satmak üzere bebeği çaldıklarını öğrenir, uygun aile arayışını hep birlikte sürdürmeye başlarlar.
After winning the Palm d’Or in 2018 with Shoplifters, Japanese director Kore-Eda Hirokazu made The Truth with Catherine Deneuve and Juliette Binoche, embarking now to tell a story set in South Korea. Broker stars Song Kang-ho of Parasite fame, and K-pop sensation Lee Ji-Eun, aka IU. Broker sets off from a news article about baby boxes installed in Seoul for parents to bring their babies and abandon them safely. Having given birth after an unintended pregnancy, So-young drops off her baby in such a box, but regrets her decision afterwards. When she returns the next day, the baby is not there. When she finally locates two well-meaning brokers, who have stolen the baby to sell to a willing family, she joins them to find the most suitable family for her own baby.
